Home | Kitchen: Green Rice
One of my favorite ways to serve rice is to stir minced cilantro, garlic and ginger -- with a squeeze of lime -- into a bowl of warm, cooked rice grains.
I got this idea from an Indian cookbook that I have, where it was called Lemon Rice. Apparently, in India, distinctions are not always made between the lemon and the lime. Someone told me afterwards that it reminds them at something they eat at Chipotle. Oh, well ...
The funny thing is, I was reading a blog that belongs to one of Homer's commenters the other day and she mentions a Japanese way of preparing rice, called Maze Gohan, that sounds much the same.
A variation I like is to do the same with minced hot green chilies, a bit of onion and some tamarind juice.

Now that I'm not allowed wheat pasta I'm always looking for new things to do with rice - this sound wonderful. I'll try it with Sunday's roast.
Grazie.

It makes for a pretty good way of dressing up the humble rice.

Homer, your favorite, Manjula, has a pretty interesting rice recipe here:

I love rice almost any way it's done, and this looks to be a real winner. Will try it for Sunday supper tomorrow. I'm betting it'll go well with braised lamb.
