Home | Morning View: Granary Burying Ground, Boston

May 6, 2009

I took a tour around the Granary Burying Ground in Boston in the summer of last year. The Burying Ground is the final resting place of Sam Adams, Paul Revere and the victims of the 1770 Boston Massacre.

Photos taken on Jun. 14, 2008 with my Canon EOS 30D digital camera and Canon EF-S 17-85mm lens.

Depressing to see the state that Revere's tombstone is in. But I imagine historians and scholars would raise Hell if it were removed and replaced with an upgraded stone.

I can't remember exactly what the story is about that marker, but I have a feeling that no one really knows where his grave is in the cemetery. The marker is probably a 19th century stone of some sort placed there later as a remembrance.
